Laurie Schulze

Laurie M. Schulze has been an associate attorney with the law firm of Rains and Spiegel, LLC since its inception.  She prides herself on her willingness to listen to her clients and communicate openly and honestly with them regarding their case. Her primary practice areas include estate planning and probate avoidance, probate, real estate transactions and litigation, business formation, business transactions and litigation, and general civil litigation.  In addition, she has been trained and appointed by the Court to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem to represent children in domestic cases involving allegations of abuse and neglect.

A lifelong resident of eastern Jackson County, Missouri, Laurie attended Harry S. Truman High School in Independence and graduated, with departmental honors, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  In 2004, she graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate Degree.

Prior to accepting a position with Rains and Spiegel in 2008, Laurie worked as an associate attorney for the firm of Jeter, Rains & Byrn, LC.  While with Jeter, Rains & Byrn, she began practicing in the areas of the law that she now continues to enjoy.  Before she began actively practicing law, Laurie served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Jack R. Grate, Jr. in Division 17 of the Jackson County Circuit Court in Independence for over two years.  During her clerkship, she acquired valuable knowledge and experience in working with civil, criminal and domestic court dockets.

Laurie is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas.  She is currently a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  She was also selected to participate in the 4th Annual Greater Kansas City Bar Leadership Academy which promotes leadership and community involvement. 

In addition to practicing law, Laurie is an active member of the community and enjoys spending her free time with friends and her family.
